		<description>Hey Jim,

Thanks for reading. A lot of us on the trip have solar setups and I plan to add a segment on this site that shows the vans and all of the systems etc.

The brown van is mine and I picked up my solar setup through this company:
http://www.affordable-solar.com/

Affordable solar was very helpful when I called and helped me pickout an appropriate setup.

I went with this panel:
UniSolar US-64, 64 Watt Solar Panel
http://www.affordable-solar.com/unisolar.us64.64watt.solar.panel.htm

and this controller:
Morningstar SunSaver 6L-12V Charge Controller
http://www.affordable-solar.com/morningstar.sunsaver.6l.12v.charge.controller.htm

I think my setup was about $450 u.s. after shipping.

		<description>Hey Frank,
Sounds like a great adventure, happy trails! I saw your post on VW vandwellers.
couple of things: was interested in the solar panel on the roof of the brown air-cooled shown in the pics. What&#039;s the wattage? how big is it (dimensions) and of course how much and where did you find it?

Also a note of caution: I&#039;ve been reading about people getting harassed by para-military looking guys somewhere down Baja way. I believe I saw the post on one of the &quot;fulltimers&quot; sites. BE CAREFUL!

<description>John, great to hear from you. Hope you look back here to get this message as I don&#039;t see an e-mail address for you. I am the organizer of this adventure and there are now two vans here in San Antonio. There should be five vans in Laredo by the end of this week, November 30 ~ December 01, the first group of 12 vans going and we will cross in to Mexico Sunday or Monday depending on how all goes. The second group of seven vans are supposed to meet in Laredo the weekend of December 07 ~ 08 ~ 09. You can get more info on the trip at http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/Busesinzamora/

If you want you can e-mail me privately at RAlanen@aol.com and I can give you my cell number so we can hook up.

		<description>Hello fellow VW enthusiasts:

I am also traveling south through Mexico in my 87 Westy, scheduled to leave Nashville, TN (left NY a week in a half ago) for Laredo crossing some time in the next week or so. Not sure how I stumbled onto your blog but thought I would introduce myself and inquire more specifically about your route and traveling schedule. I am traveling alone, working on a film about borders, nationalism, patriotism and expatriotism and stumbling into your blog made me think it might be nice to capture a few shots of your caravan. A line of VW buses heading down an open highway somewhere in the great wide open would make a powerful shot for my project. If Ihear back from someone, I will email you a photo of my own vehicle and provide a route/schedule update of my own.

Warm regards,
John
