Jonathan, Villa De Corona

After Zacatecas we visited the Chimulco RV resort. Chimulco is located a little to the Southwest of Guadalajara in the town of Villa De Corona. At first I was not happy to be staying in a crowded RV campground but this feeling quickly changed as I toured the beautiful grounds and met the many friendly people staying there. Most of the visitors at Chimulco are retirement aged travelers from Canada. Soon after we arrived we heard the first loud bangs of fireworks from the early celebrations of The day of the Virgin Guadalupe. These explosions accompanied us through every hour of our visit until the celebration reached it’s pinnacle on the 12th with a large parade and a night of partying. This holiday, The day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, is a national holiday and you can learn more about it here.My primary activities during our visit were working on my van and surfing the internet but I did find many other interesting things to do including going to the large market where we bought the best shrimp that I have yet had and that we subsequently feasted on for many meals. I also went swimming in the large swimming pools. These pools are drained and then refilled every day with hot water from the local springs. This water was very clean and quite warm at 104 degrees Farenheit when first out of the ground. It was very nice to substitute my morning shower for a warm swim before leaving Chimulco for the wedding in Zamora.
