Jonathan, Nuevo Laredo to Zacatecas
After successfully crossing the border I was glad to hit the road, see some sights and leave the border area behind. On our first day in Mexico we drove until just before sunset. I hooked onto an excellent Mexican radio station that was playing 80′s rock and teaching me a bit of Spanish in between the songs. With the great tunes and the new to me world unfolding as we cruised I was thoroughly entertained and excited. We quickly got into mountains and the country became increasingly beautiful as we made our way south. On our second day from the border a few hours after crossing the Tropic of Cancer we arrived in Zacatecas and found a great camping spot above the city with hot showers and fast internet connections. The roads were smooth and our pace when outside of the towns was fast. There were a few close encounters with aggressive drivers and I learned that fully loaded tractor trailer rigs can weave in and out of traffic as quickly as sports cars.
Here are a few pictures from this leg of the trip. First off is a photo of the group. In the front row from the left is Jason, Sylvia and Benoit. In the back row from the left is Jonathan, Hans and Nellie, Jean, Rita and Frank with Hunter (click to enlarge).

The pictures are great. Thanks again for taking the time to post. Zacatecus sounds like a town Rebecca and I need to visit someday.
Drive safely on Sunday and enjoy your destination.
Adios Amigo,
