We're going to need to see pictures. Lots and lots of pictures, preferrably zoomed in so we can see the lack of eyelashes.

That is close enough to the truth for confirmation although it implies a more dramatic event than what actually occurred.

Talking about such an obvious mistake is an embarrassing subject but I may as well set the record straight. About ten minutes after my last failed attempt at shooting the potato gun the new ignitor that I had installed was ready for testing. Since last attempt at shooting the gun had been drilled, taped, and generally messed with (attempted excuse). I didn't think (my real mistake) that there could still be fuel in the gun and was looking into the chamber checking the striker alignment. All looked good but I thought it prudent to do a test click to confirm that it there was a good spark and whammo out comes a hot as crap jet of fire right into my left eye. I spent the following few hours hiding in my 100 degree (F.) van hiding my pride behind an ice pack with both eyes watering and a constantly running nose. Now, next to my red nose I sport a blister that looks like a birthmark on my left cheek and I have very little eye-lash or eye-brow left. The best part of the experience was that the intense, make you nauseous pain finally abated.

The potato gun worked like a champ by the way and launched spud propelled fishing lures well out into the ocean.

Dude, the word around the fire last night was that you shot yourself in the face with a potato gun. Can you confirm that?

I have no sympathy for you for having to leave a beautiful beach after being there for a month. This morning when I got out of bed it was 24 degrees! We miss you, Jonathan, so come home soon and bring some of that warm weather with you!

Sure there are many nice places, even Melaque is better in some ways (cheaper prices, faster internet, more shopping, etc.). While I don´t expect to find an all around more comfortable beach spot than La Manzanilla I will look and be pleasantly surprised when I find it.

(from La Ticla where the surf is much larger)
