Jonathan, Adios La Manzanilla
We have left La Manzanilla without expectations of finding a better beach spot in Mexico. Staying in one place for so long probably taught me much more about Mexico than visiting other places would have and La Manzanilla is a great place to spend a winter month.
With sadness from saying goodbye I headed to Melaque to gear up for the surfing safari that starts tomorrow morning. It was good to wash the beach off of my van and to get gas for the first time since mid December. The photos below are mostly from outside of La Manzanilla except for the photos of Frank blissing out with his fresh churros and our good friend Leon waving goodbye.

Come on Jonathan!!! there is other great place beside La Manz… different for sure but nice. Enjoy your trip for us now, time goes fast!!! It’s so ugly here…
Have fun and enjoy, we are thinking about you guys!!!

Sure there are many nice places, even Melaque is better in some ways (cheaper prices, faster internet, more shopping, etc.). While I don´t expect to find an all around more comfortable beach spot than La Manzanilla I will look and be pleasantly surprised when I find it.

I have no sympathy for you for having to leave a beautiful beach after being there for a month. This morning when I got out of bed it was 24 degrees! We miss you, Jonathan, so come home soon and bring some of that warm weather with you!
Poole,
cool that you are in Mexico. I’m actually in MX as well. I’m in guadalajara. Shoot me a line (alex.sherling@mac.com). We need to get together.

Dude, the word around the fire last night was that you shot yourself in the face with a potato gun. Can you confirm that?
That is close enough to the truth for confirmation although it implies a more dramatic event than what actually occurred.
Talking about such an obvious mistake is an embarrassing subject but I may as well set the record straight. About ten minutes after my last failed attempt at shooting the potato gun the new ignitor that I had installed was ready for testing. Since last attempt at shooting the gun had been drilled, taped, and generally messed with (attempted excuse). I didn’t think (my real mistake) that there could still be fuel in the gun and was looking into the chamber checking the striker alignment. All looked good but I thought it prudent to do a test click to confirm that it there was a good spark and whammo out comes a hot as crap jet of fire right into my left eye. I spent the following few hours hiding in my 100 degree (F.) van hiding my pride behind an ice pack with both eyes watering and a constantly running nose. Now, next to my red nose I sport a blister that looks like a birthmark on my left cheek and I have very little eye-lash or eye-brow left. The best part of the experience was that the intense, make you nauseous pain finally abated.
The potato gun worked like a champ by the way and launched spud propelled fishing lures well out into the ocean.

hiya from the peach state. hope all is well and you recover swiftly from your potato gun branding . . .
We’re going to need to see pictures. Lots and lots of pictures, preferrably zoomed in so we can see the lack of eyelashes.
