Back from Zamora

Early Friday morning we said goodbye to April, Sal and Sal’s father in Jacona and headed off down the long tope filled road to La Manzanilla.  It was good to see April & Sal one last time before their departure for California on Saturday morning.  Back to work and back to school for the newlyweds !  They had a great time in Ixtapa, surfing and relaxing.  The road to La Manzanilla, now becoming familiar this being our third pass at it.  Topes and beautiful mountain scenery just to Colima where we get on the Cuota and speed quickly into Manzanilla for a stop at the Wal Mart and shopping before getting back to the beach camp at La Manzanilla.  Entering Manzaillo we see a Transito pick up truck stuck on a railroad crossing and hear the engines coming switching cars on the dock and then we see the pick truck hit by the engines and on it side with the drives still inside.  Havoc ensues and we try to find a way out back the way we came before we end up spending the rest of the day there until the mess is cleared up.  Luckily we were able to make an about face and go back the way we had come in and find our way to the Wal Mart by another road.  Good luck there for sure.  Around 5:30 we get back to our lovely spot on the beach and all our friends.  Great to be back and hear the ocean crashing on the beach.  Relaxing and nightly beach parties abound and life on the beach is good.  Updates of Hans and his accident and retreat from Mexico come in and we know he is OK and on his way safely home.  Sure do miss his company and maybe next time he will be able to stay longer.  Now it’s New Years Eve and what ensues today and night no one knows.  For sure for all of us we will enjoy it here in La Manzanilla.  More news to follow in the New Year.

Here are some photos of our trip to and from Zamora and on the beach in La Manz. http://picasaweb.google.com/Frankcondelli/ZamoraToLaManzanilla

Happy New Years to all our readers !

  1. Hello, just to let you know that we made it only till LaFayette LA. Spent a little time in New Orleans and saw still some of the devastation that occured a few years ago. Very sad.
Also went to Cabela’s in Gonzalis. We have had such luck with the weather dry and sunny but it was -8C this morning.
Hans wants to go to Fredericksburg TX do you think it is worth the drive? Hope there will still be some people left at the beach when we get there!! Hans & Rita
