I thought that the flooring was unique when I noticed that those are the ends of timbers.  I don&#039;t know how long/deep they are but it made for a very sturdy floor.  I&#039;m not sure why they built the floor using this technique but it was the only cart or carriage entrance into the fort so it probably saw heavy loads.  I don&#039;t know if the floor is original either but it was cool.  There is only sand in the joints and no grout or sealant.</description>
